Local elections shape education, community priorities, and future leadership.

On August 18th, Sarasota was part of an incredible effort – and we did it!  Because of you, Beth Mayberry and Megan Tennimon comfortably won, earning the support of 70% of non-partisan voters and at close to 20% of republican voters.  We officially created a BIG TENT!  This wasn’t just a victory – it was a powerful statement from voters.

Fair Governance for Florida, set out to build a movement that would give voters something they rarely get during an election:  the full story about the people asking for their vote.

We did the homework, researched the candidates, followed their words and actions, and shared what we found – because voters deserve the facts.

The work doesn't stop. On November 3rd, voters have another chance to ensure the stability of public education in Sarasota. Fair Governance for Florida believes Jimmy Glover - candidate for Sarasota School Board, is a critical addition to the Sarasota School Board.  With Jimmy Glover on the Sarasota School Board, Sarasota voters have the opportunity to close the chapter on chaos and focus on what matters most: our students, our teachers, and the future of our schools.

That is why Fair Governance For Florida will highlight the race to elect the next Governor of Florida is a binary choice. David Jolly supports reinvesting in public education from kindergarten to college. His opponent believes in privatizing public education for profit. The choice for voters this November is extremely clear.

And what happens in Sarasota matters beyond our school district. Public education is one of the most important issues facing Florida.

David Jolly, the Democratic candidate for Governor, has made public education a central part of his campaign. His plan calls for increased investment in public schools, higher teacher pay, and investment in school infrastructure and resources. He describes his goal as a 10-year “public education renaissance.”

From the Sarasota School Board to the Governor’s office, the decisions made by elected leaders will shape the future of Florida’s schools.

On November 3rd…

Change begins with you.
